Someone just emailed me this morning about this post and specifically asked about avoiding meat and I answered without looking at the article first. Now that I have looked at it more closely, I realize he is recommending against non grass fed meat-not meat in general. I think this is good advice. But, we do the best we can do within our budget-all of us, and eating meat, in my opinion, is very important. Eating organic is very important. I think each food he discusses here is really good information and doing the best you can within your budget to adhere to this advice is a good idea.

I was shopping at the store yesterday and was thinking for the millionth time how difficult it is to stay within your budget and eat as healthy as possible. Knowing things like what is posted in Dr. mercola’s article is quite helpful and may help lessen concerns of what we are choosing to feed ourselves and our families. When I am in doubt, I often think to myself-the more exposed something is the more important it is to be organic-such as berries and all fruits we eat the outside of, whereas, fruits with hard outsides we dont eat we can probably get away with non organic.

In any case, this morning the email I answered was specifically regarding meat-as all of you know, I strongly advocated meat and will not accept new IC patients if they are not eating it. I wish I did not have this opinion and have not found it to be so important. But…this has been my experience across the board over all of these years of treating IC and many other chronic forms of illness.
