In my dissertation there is a theory of “compensation” that I discuss where the body produces more fluids (in many forms) to protect the body from the damages that have occurred over time. Cholesterol is one example of such fluids and is a reason why many people with chronic problems have high cholesterol. And, I argue that often it is this dynamic that elevates cholesterol rather than a bad diet. I just found this page, which, discusses this concept from a different point of view-I stumbled upon it this morning. It shows a few books with authors who appear to have like-minded opinions. I am betting these are some very good reads! http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/cholesterol.htm#a
